With Christmas just around the corner (in 23 days, to be exact), the excitement for winter is in the air! That also means we must say goodbye to fall. To celebrate the beauty of this year’s fall season, I am dedicating this blog to all the photos I have of fall activities and foliage at Amherst in my camera roll. If you’re wondering what to do when you come to Amherst College in the fall, this could be helpful! These photos will also prove how stunning Amherst is in autumn. Note that the Amherst College campus is far more beautiful than the Williams College campus.
Fall Festival
This is the greatest annual event at Amherst where you can enjoy some amazing music and indulge in delectable fall foods. My top picks are pumpkin mac and cheese, wood-fired pizza, pumpkin cheesecake, and apple cider. You can also enjoy fun activities at Fall Fest like pumpkin carving, horse-drawn wagon rides, and face painting!
Amherst Farmers’ Market
The Town of Amherst holds a farmers’ market downtown every Saturday from 8 AM to 1:30 PM. You can get pumpkins there, coffee, and deliciously fresh vegetables! I walk there with my friends every weekend to get $3 whoopie pies (they are SO GOOD).
Amherst ABC Cider Run/Walk 5K
A Better Chance (ABC) is a national nonprofit residential high school program that prepares students from underserved school districts for college and future leadership roles. The Cider Run/Walk 5k is ABC’s largest fundraising event. Amherst College covers the cost of entering the race for students. My friends and I participated this year! Although we didn’t win, we took full advantage of the free cider, donuts, merch, and snacks given at the end of the race.
Trails at Amherst
Check out beautiful trails such as the Norwottuck Rail Trail featured here. These trails are perfect for bike rides, walking, and runs! I love going on group runs with friends on these paths.
Pumpkin Painting
There are a ton of opportunities for students to paint pumpkins at Amherst. Fall Fest was mentioned earlier, but many organizations on campus, such as the Amherst College Wellness Team and Residential Engagement & Wellbeing, host fall events featuring activities like pumpkin painting. My friends and I attended an event hosted by the Wellness Team where cider donuts and cider were provided. Can you guess which pumpkin is mine?
Atkins Farm
One of Amherst’s many charms is its local farms. You have opportunities to go apple picking or visit farmer’s market stores such as Atkins Farm. Atkins sells mouthwatering cider donuts and pumpkins of every size, shape, and color!
