Johnson Chapel Covered in Snow

Isn’t the snow just lovely? Last Wednesday (12/4) and Thursday (12/5) around 4-5 inches of snow fell on Amherst. I’m from Massachusetts and used to experiencing snow every year but it felt more beautiful on campus. People from warmer parts of the country and world were especially mesmerized by the feathery flakes dancing through the air. Wednesday night, studying was forgone as students huddled on the first-year quad and built snowmen, had snowball fights, and took photos of the scenery. I was in bed cozied up that night (with a giant cup of hot chocolate from Frost Cafe), but I did see students out and about from my window. There was nothing more heartwarming than to see college students laughing and playing in the snow like children.

You should apply to Amherst if you want to enjoy the winter season and heal your inner child. What makes snow at Amherst more special than at any other college? Just LOOK at the photos. You can’t tell me it’s not one of the most beautiful things you’ve ever seen. The Amherst community made the snow day even more memorable by collectively deciding to have fun for one night rather than studying. Amherst students live in the moment and enjoy the beauty of the world around them.
