Hi everyone!! Welcome back to the blog. As I write this, I’m actually in the comfort of my own bedroom back home for April break (the joys of having no class on Fridays), but I still have plenty of Amherst related content for you all! Now, some of you may be thinking, “Emi, you usually upload new blogs for the brunch series every other week…where is the brunch series?!”. For the totally definitely large number of people who are thinking that right now, I can reassure you that the brunch series will be returning very soon. Essentially, my past two weeks were fairly wacky but also very lovely, so I was just feeling inspired. With that in mind, here are some recent mini moments from my life at Amherst that made me happy. Enjoy!

Would it really be an Emi blog post without the mention of food? I think not. But anyway, one of my mini moments from this week was the realization that even after living in Amherst for almost two years, there are still SO many restaurants to explore! This photo was taken during my friend’s birthday dinner at the Japanese restaurant Iya Sushi and Noodle Kitchen, and I found myself feeling so grateful that we go to a college with a town that offers so many cozy restaurants for us to make wonderful memories in. This spot was the perfect place to celebrate my friend’s birthday, and my Wednesday night became filled with amazing food and even better company.
For this photo, the most obvious thing that made me happy was Crumbl cookies. So yummy. But more generally, this past week I felt very grateful to have access to the Five College Consortium. Let me set the scene for you. It’s a Saturday night. My friends and I feel like going on a little adventure. Now, what might a little adventure entail, you might ask? Well, in this case, it involved piling into my friend’s car and driving to UMass as we ate cookies, ranked the cookie flavors, and laughed hysterically about absolutely everything. The great thing about our school’s close proximity to UMass is that while it opens up so many activities to explore, it’s also a trip that’s extremely doable and low commitment. This night ended up being one of my most memorable this semester, and it would have been impossible without the lovely Five College Consortium at our disposal.

Alright. I am aware that you’re staring at a photo of a bathroom. I’m aware! But hear me out. Last week, I walked into Johnson Chapel to attend my professor’s office hours, and decided to look for a bathroom before our meeting. Upon doing so, I stumbled upon this, and my immediate thought was “wow, this is the most Amherst thing ever.” While including this example of a literal bathroom is maybe a little bit silly, I do think it’s a perfect example of the hidden gems that truly are scattered across campus. And also, I’m kind of obsessed with the fact that a couple of students committed to covering a bathroom’s walls in quotes, thoughts, and poetry. This is probably the most “small liberal arts school” that graffiti could ever be, but it was still a mini moment that made me quite happy, so I felt like it deserved to be included.
Well, I hope that you all enjoyed the blog for this week, and that you find some mini moments in your own lives that make you happy. As always, if you have any questions at all about life at Amherst College, feel free to reach out! My email is eknauer27@amherst.edu. Bye for now!
