Blooming tree

Finally (!!), Amherst weather is feeling a bit more like spring, which makes me want to write about some bits and pieces about my past semester here.

Extracurricular Activities

I continued my new hobby, cooking, with friends this semester! Not only are we cooking for ourselves, but we have also started the culinary club to involve more students in learning and enjoying cooking. We cooked tteobbokki (check this blog out!), hand-pulled noodles, and steamed buns. More are coming!

In addition, I’ve been participating more actively in the clubs I’m involved in, as well as trying out some new clubs. Our TEDx team is ON FIRE––we already have our student, alumni, and faculty speakers. Stay tuned for more information! We’d love to see you there! I also tried frisbee and the AI Safety club, which made me walk out of my comfort zone and learn new perspectives. I highly encourage you all to discover new clubs (and create your own!). It’s never too late to get involved in anything at Amherst.

Academic Activities

This semester, I attended many academic talks hosted at Amherst. These talks are a great way for me to learn about things beyond the four classes I took, especially concerning contemporary politics, literature, and more frontier research in the fields I am interested in. For example, I was lucky to attend the conversation with Teju Cole at the Lit Fest.

Nature

As the winter slowly melts away with the snow, Amherst is finally blooming. The bikeshare program also restarted, so my friends and I actually biked all the way to Hadley and back along the rail trail. It was a challenge for me, as someone who does not bike often, but it was a fun experience!

Compared to the fall semester, spring seemed “chiller”. But I get to spend more time on the things I enjoy and I’m curious about. Hope we’ll all survive through the last few weeks till finals! We got this! Summer is around the corner… πŸ˜‰
