Hi readers! Good to see you again! Sit back, relax, and enjoy a fun story of my spontaneous day trip to Boston, Massachusetts.
During the fall semester, some fellow Amherst College students and I had a free Saturday in November, which we took as an opportunity to take some time to make our way outside of the “Amherst Bubble.” This is a loving term that is used to explain the situation of Amherst College students consistently only interacting with the Amherst Community during the school year. As Amherst students, we are usually very busy, so we were excited about this opportunity to travel together!
In contemplating what we would do with this free day, we decided to take a day trip to Boston, MA! As we made the about two hour drive to the great city of Boston, we planned the events of our day. We were excited about the many events and opportunities that Boston provided us.
First, we decided to grab breakfast at the popular cafe and bakery, Tatte. There were a lot of people in line to order their food, but we decided it would be worth the wait! The menu had lots of options to choose from, but I ended up ordering a flat white coffee and a smoked salmon, avocado, and egg sandwich. They were both very good!

After brunch, we decided that we wanted to do something active, and after some brainstorming we decided to take a class together at SoulCycle. This was my first time taking a SoulCycle class, and even though I was nervous, I ended up having a lot of fun! The class had upbeat, loud music, and the instructor was very energetic. I will definitely attend another class in the future!

After shopping, we contemplated where we wanted to get dinner, and we decided to go to the iconic Quincy Market! This is a large food court inside of a historic building that has lots of food options. In deciding what to order for dinner, I knew I had to get classic clam chowder inside of a bread bowl. My friend Christa Prasertsintanah ‘27 ordered a legendary lobster roll. We both really enjoyed our food!

Ultimately, my day trip to Boston with my fellow mammoths was a lot of fun! I was able to explore a big city in an impromptu and relaxed way. I really enjoyed traveling in a group, as it felt less intimidating than traveling alone. I look forward to the next opportunity for an adventure where I venture outside of campus!
