Hi readers! Welcome back! I’m going to take you along the ride for the iconic Winter Fest at Amherst College.
The Winter Fest at Amherst is an annual event that is the second iteration of the seasonal festivals, with Fall Fest being the first, in the fall semester. Similar to Fall Fest, Winter fest offers a chance for the Amherst College community and the Amherst Town to come together to enjoy food, live music, and fun activities! This year, Winter Fest was held in the Coolidge Cage and Orr Rink from 6:00 P.M., to 8:00 P.M.
I went to the event at around 6:30 P.M., with some fellow students, and we were blown away with how the Coolidge Cage had transformed! Before we walked in, there were large ice sculptures, and a giant blow up mammoth with a super cool scarf on. There was also a large snow globe that you could go inside of, some skee-ball machines, as well as an inflatable slide. It was a lot of fun to see my friends have some friendly competition while racing each other down the slide. There was also live music to accompany the event, which was a lot of fun to sing along while we waited in line for food.

The food is always the thing that I look forward to the most at the Fall and Winter Fests. The food is all you can eat, and there are a lot of choices to choose from! At the Winter Fest this year, there was a baked potato bar, bao buns, barbeque sandwiches, tacos, and many sweet treats! Some of the sweets included donuts, waffles, cupcakes, and many more. To drink they had hot chocolate and apple cider. I had a lot of fun trying all of the different foods!
After we had tried so many good savory and sweet snacks, my friends and I took a break and took our photo at the photo booth! The photo booth was really cool, as it was staged as if we were riding on a ski lift. We had fun picking out our silly props and posing for the camera in different poses! Once we were done, the staff running the photo booth printed us each out our own individual photos to take home. I’m so excited to put up the photo in my dorm to remember the day.

Before we left the Winter Fest, we went over to where the live band was performing, and sang and danced along with them. They were singing some great songs including Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Overall, we had a great time at the annual Winter Fest, as it was a great way to take a break from studying on a Sunday evening, and have some fun before starting a new week. I can’t wait to go again next year!
