About Me!

Hi everyone! My name is Braelyn, and I am a sophomore here at Amherst College! I am from Taunton, Massachusetts, which is about forty-five minutes south of Boston. I am lucky enough to have a car ride home from Amherst that is a bit under two hours! I am a Psychology and English double major, and I also love experiencing as many different classes as I can outside of my majors as well. At Amherst, I have the privilege of being a Community Advisor on the First-Year Quad, a Student Office Assistant at Wilson Admissions, and now an Admissions Blogger. I am also a member of the Amherst College Club Soccer team on campus. Outside of my involvements on campus, I love to read, craft, paint, and watch true crime and mystery series!

Why Amherst?

Funny enough, Amherst College was the second college I toured during the start of my college process. I remember the tour being very last minute because I had barely done any research on the campus, the academics, or even the location of Amherst. Little did I know, Amherst was about to be my favorite campus and my top choice throughout the admissions process. Even though I ended up touring so many other schools after touring Amherst, I ended up right where I needed to be!

One of the things I’ve come to love about life on campus is that no two days ever feel the same. Some mornings begin slowly with a long breakfast in Val, while other days are filled with back-to-back classes, meetings, and conversations with friends. There are days that feel structured and productive, when everything goes according to plan, and there are others that feel entirely spontaneous. On these more spontaneous days, I’ll go to an on-campus event or stay up late talking with friends. I’ve learned that part of the beauty of college life is that there isn’t one typical day. Each one unfolds differently depending on the workload, the people I run into, and my own energy. That variety keeps campus life exciting!

Follow Along!

I gravitated towards admission blogging because I really enjoy sharing different types of personal experiences through writing. I know how much I appreciated hearing real student perspectives after I toured Amherst College, and I would love to be able to offerthat same kind of honesty and insight to prospective and current students. Blogging feels like a natural way for me to reflect on my own time at Amherst, keep my own college experiences fun and engaging for myself, and hopefully make the college process feel a little less overwhelming for others. I’m excited for my next blogs to come, so tune in next time!
