Hi! My name is Erika Salvador, and I’m from Nueva Ecija, Philippines. I’m part of the Class of 2028, currently double-majoring in Mathematics and Statistics.

Most of my involvements at Amherst revolve around research. In Statistics, I worked with Professor Kat Correia during AY 2024-25 and I’m now working with Professor Nick Horton on several ongoing projects. Since last year, I’ve also been a Research Assistant for Professor Caroline Theoharides in the Economics Department. I’m currently a Statistics and Data Science Fellow as well, where I hold weekly drop-in hours and assist with research for the Office of Advancement. Working with professors this early has been one of my favorite parts of Amherst. It’s incredible to see what excites them, and even more amazing when they get just as excited about your work, too!

Outside of academics, I love taking long nature walks—I’ve actually walked all the way to Mount Holyoke College and Smith College before! I also enjoy exploring thrift shops and trying out small local restaurants around Amherst and Northampton whenever I can.

I decided to become an Admission Blogger because Amherst has been such an amazing place for me, and I want to document my life here. I hope future students can see what Amherst might offer them, and I also want to create a little time capsule for myself. I want to look back someday and remember what it felt like to start building a life here. I don’t know exactly what the rest of my Amherst story will look like yet, but maybe that’s the best part: I get to write it as I go. 🙂
