Hello everyone!

It is officially winter break, and exams are finally over. In other words, it’s time to kick back, cozy up, and enjoy the holidays. This past week, however, has been a bittersweet finals period, worth cherishing, as I will not be studying at Amherst next semester. Instead, I will be studying abroad in Denmark. In preparing for my extended absence, I spent my time in between tests appreciating Amherst to the fullest. I thought I should to share some goodbyes that were hard for happy reasons.

First of all, I had to say my goodbyes to Valentine dining hall. Given the upcoming student center and replacement dining hall, I cannot expect to eat in our beloved dining hall my senior year. While I am excited for the new building, Val will always hold a special place in my heart. It is home to delicious ice cream toppings, a wonderful team, and countless memories. Pictured above are some friends at our last [Valentine] supper.

Next up, I had some unfinished business I needed to address in the art studio. These prints were made after submitting my final portfolio for the class, just for myself. This printmaking class took a lot of work, was very rewarding, and developed a great feeling of community amongst my classmates. Will miss this!letters and crafts made by friends

Finally, I had to say goodbye to my friends. We did an exchange of letters and gifts, shown above. They were so thoughtful and creative. This was a wonderful way to make time to connect before we all went away, with most of us going abroad next semester, all to different countries. I will deeply miss these wonderful girls, and cannot wait to reunite for senior year!

It is great to be a part of a community where there is so much to miss. Happy holidays to all!

Best wishes,

Ailís
